The word algorithm appears more and more often in our daily conversations. We talk about the algorithm of Google, Instagram or Netflix, it is daily echoed in news related to technology and society, documentaries and films about algorithms have been produced, the importance they have in our lives and the control level they can exercise over our decisions are questioned… But do we really know what an algorithm is? Since when do they exist and how do they affect us?
Programming for children, learning to code is a game full of adventures
These days, more and more parents are looking for apps, resources, and coding programs for kids. Teaching children how to code is not an easy task, since programming requires effort and a lot of perseverance. Therefore, the most important thing is to get children and adolescents to see programming as a fun activity. We have to awaken their interest and the best way to do it at these ages is through gamification, which allows us to turn learning into a playful activity.
Codeathlon Coding Competition Winners – Summer ’21
Codeathlon Summer Edition ended on Friday. The Codeathlon is a coding competition in which all Codelearn students up to 18 years can participate. The competition is divided into three leagues (Golden, Silver and Bronze) and the participating clans, made up of a maximum of six students, can get promoted or relegated for the next edition according to their performance. Every clan’s mission is to face other clans and overcome different coding challenges on the Codelearn online platform.
Learning the 21st Century Skills with a Coding After-School Program
All extracurricular activities have a positive impact on the social and cognitive development of children, but there are many different activities and the most important thing is to choose one thanks to which children enjoy and have fun while working on skills that can go further on what they learn at school. In this sense, coding and robotics programs are a cognitive activity in which children learn transferable skills and also work on one of the most important technical skills for their future: programming.
