FIRST STEPS

How does the platform work?

Let’s talk about the Platform itself: whenever you want to work you have to go to the following URL:

https://fun.codelearn.com

To access the Platform you have to login using your email and password. If you used the correct data, the webpage will change completely. The new page you are looking at is the Platform main page and consists of the following parts:

TOP BAR

On the top bar you will find:

LEFT EDGE

— Codelearn logo (click it to go back to the home)

RIGHT SIDE (in order, from left to right)

— Quests -> This % indicates if you have reached the minimum level of diary work. You will see that you can click on this percentage to access the mission page. You have a quest to fulfill every day: to reach 100% of minimum work! As you work, you will see that percentage increases. The longer you do your daily mission, the more rewards the Platform will provide you!

— Level -> A badge with your current level. The level is an indicator of how advanced you are in your learning. All Codelearn students start at level 1 and, as they advance in their learning, the level increases. This level badge has some peculiarities that I would like to comment on. From the beginning, you will see that at each level the appearance of the badge changes, becoming more spectacular. But when you reach level 10, the appearance of the badge will be reset! You will also see that the numbers increase in a somewhat strange way. This is because the levels are in binary! Wait, don’t you know what binary is? Well, you will have to complete the adventure “Sailors of The Binary Sea” to learn about it!

— Points bag -> Every time you overcome an exercise you will receive reward points. These points will accumulate and have a lot of relationship with your level. However, these points have another utility: they are a currency that you can redeem for objects or adventures. Let’s talk about all this later …

— Lightning -> This lightning is used to indicate if you are in a streak. The streak is a way to know that you are doing work continuously. That is, it tells us that you have accessed the Platform and you have done an exercise every day. But keep in mind: if one day you fail and you can not do exercises, the streak is lost! You need to know that the streak is not just a number, but it does give you a bonus on the total points you receive as a reward when you finish an exercise. Even better: the more streak you have, the greater this reward will be.

— Bell -> From time to time you will see that this bell is “vibrating”. This is because you have a new notification! The Platform (or a teacher) have something to say to you … Take a look at it from time to time.

— Profile -> This last space is designed for you to know that you have connected correctly and so you can make some changes in your user settings (for example, in the language of the Platform).

LEFT MENU

Here you can find access to the various sections of the platform.

— List of adventures -> In this space you will find all the adventures you have available to work. You’ll see that, at the beginning, you have very few, specifically just one: OBJECTIVE: THE EARTH, the first of the main stories. You can also note that, for now, you took only 0% of the total (of course! If you have not started working yet!). The philosophy behind the concept of adventure is the following: when you complete an adventure (that is, when you reach 100%), the next adventure will appear in this space. This is always the case… with some exceptions. Sometimes, when you get to certain points of some adventures, this will unlock new stories. These stories are COMPLEMENTARY, so they can serve you as an alternative if you’re locked in the main adventure. And even more! As you have more points available and your level is increased, you can also buy special adventures!

In order to start working, you just have to click on the adventure you want to work on. The aspect of the Platform will change and you will see a path with your avatar on top. This is the representation of the chapters that you will have to overcome to complete the adventure. Your character is on the chapter you are working on. You will also see that the rest of the episodes are labeled with stars: the golden stars indicate the chapters that you have completed, and the blue stars those chapters you need to finish. Just below you will see that there are two progress bars, where you can track your progress in the chapter you are working on, as well as the adventure in which you are.

— Current Adventure -> This is a quick access that takes you to the last adventure in which you have worked in.

— Character profile -> Here you can check all the information regarding your character. Specifically: your level, the number of points you have, the number of points you have spent, your attributes, etc.

— Store -> In this section you will see the articles you can buy using your points. There are different categories of articles: some of them are “from the real world” (that is, you can purchase them and we will send them to you), some are virtual and improve the attributes of your character, and some others are extra adventures that you can decide to buy and work on. You’ll also see that there is a lapel to check your previous purchases.

— Rankings -> Your score is not only used to indicate your level, it also places you in the ranking of students. You will see that there are several rankings: 24h, weekly, monthly, total and online. The goal is to become the first in all of them!

— Games and activities -> Here you will find some extra activities to work when you are tired of doing exercises. What these activities are good for is that, in addition, they will grant you points! But keep in mind: there is a daily limit to the number of such activities you can do every day and another weekly limit.

— Social -> In this section you will find clans of students. A clan is a group of students who add their efforts (the exercises they do at home) to get rewards. You are currently not part of any clan, but you can go to the bottom, find a list of clans and click on the “Join” button. Some clans are public (you can always join and leave them) and some others are private (there is a leader who must approve your membership). Once you are part of a clan you will see there is a chest and a total of exercises: all the members of the clan must do the total number of exercises indicated to obtain the reward. This reward in the form of a chest can be opened on Saturdays (the weekly box) and on Mondays (the weekend chest). Later, when you reach to level 4 and have enough points, you can even create your own clan!

— Exit -> When you press this button, you will exit the platform and logout of your profile.

— Help button -> When you hit this button you begin a thread of communication with the teachers of Codelearn. Here you can ask ANY doubt you have about exercises, the Platform or whatever happens to you. A teacher will answer your question as soon as possible and send you the reply, which will appear as a notification. From here, you can continue talking to the teacher if you think it’s appropriate.
